Calling Applicants for Nepal Innovation Challenge- AgriTECH

Nepal AgriTECH is an initiative to connect agriculture with latest technology to develop solutions that address challenges for farmers and private sector companies that are serving them. This challenge is a part of UNCDF’s Financial Innovation Lab Initiative and aims to connect participating start-ups with enablers such as KISAN II project, SUNFARMER Nepal, IME Digital, Prabhu Pay and try their solutions in live environment with expert support from these institutions.

This challenge is mainly looking for solutions in terms of demand and supply side. While the demand side include making operations easier for smallholder farmers, the supply side includes making the products accessible and delivering them to consumers efficiently.

  • Technical assistance from UNCDF for 1 year to pilot the product/service and develop its scale-up plan.

Eligibility:

The cohort will consist of pre-seed stage teams and existing startups based on these criteria:

  • Category I- Existing startups

    – The participating team should be legally registered in Nepal and in operation for at least 1 year. It is not necessary that the start-up should be engaged in agri or allied tech services. Any start-up with the vision of serving smallholder farmers may apply.
    – The team should have a concept ready with minimal financial projections and business plan thought of and documented.

  • Category II- Pre seed stage teams
    – In case of pre seed stage teams, the company need not be legally registered. The team should have at least 2 team members and one of them should be Nepali.
    – The team should have a concept ready with minimal financial projections and business plan thought of and documented.
    – Both the team members should be 18 years or above.
